Ordained deacon in 1848 and priest in 1849. His first mission was for 13 years in Moreton's Harbour in Notre Dame Bay. In 1861 to his death he was at Harbor Buffett, Placentia Bay, The town of Kingwell near Harbor Buffett was called after him.
